Nach den Regeln der Normalität

Werkleitz contributed to the publication with a printed conversation between Daniel Hermann (artistic director of Werkleitz) and Prof. Jonathan Everts (human geography, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg). The publication was released by Mitteldeutscher Verlag. A newspaper supplement of the same name also appeared in the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung.

Nach den Regeln der Normalität (According to the Rules of Normality) is a project by students majoring in photography/communication design at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle.

The publication comprises a creative reflection on current and future images of the region. With photographs, video stills, and texts by students and invited authors from the fields of science and art, the project by the Communication Design/Photography program at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle aims to stimulate discussion about the current and future living environment in the Central German mining region. In view of the current structural change and the question of how life in the region will change, the title Nach den Regeln der Normalität* (According to the Rules of Normality) identifies a conflict: on the one hand, it confirms the need for orientation along familiar patterns of thought and action, and on the other, it expresses a deep desire for radical readjustment.
