Part 1: Refresher on the fundamentals of linear dramaturgy in film. E.g., how can the classic 3/5 act structure be applied to documentary and experimental works? Which dramaturgical techniques create suspense?

Part 2: Deals with non-linear forms as seen in feature films from the last 20 years (“21 Grams,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Run Lola Run”) as well as in experimental films such as “Meshes of the Afternoon” by Maya Deren and “Nowa Ksiazka” by Zbigniew Rybczynski. Other non-linear forms can be found in other cultural narrative techniques, such as the Aboriginal feature film 10 Canoes by Rolf de Heer (Australia, 2006) or in essay films such as Sans Soleil by Chris Marker (France, 1983).

Part 3: Interactive dramaturgy: What needs to be considered in cross-media and web documentaries? How do docu-game hybrids such as Fort McMoney, the most expensive online production of a documentary game to date, work? How does the viewer become a participating co-creator, and what needs to be considered and enabled for this to happen?
