Leuna, Werkteil II

This industrial film, produced by the DEFA Studio for Popular Science Films on behalf of VEB Leuna-Werke Walter Ulbricht, shows the new petrochemical division of the largest chemical plant in the GDR: Leuna II. With the help of special effects, the various production processes that supply the basic chemicals for further processing in Buna or Bitterfeld-Wolfen are described. Whether ethylene, styrene, the coolant propene, or synthetic rubber for car tires—the high quality of the products is what matters. Good supplies and recreational opportunities for the factory workers are also highlighted as achievements of socialist economic management for the benefit of the people.
