The workshop addresses the following questions: What does the market I operate in look like? How do I find suitable partners to bring my project to fruition? This involves – though not exclusively – funding and grant applications. Strategic partnerships and the expansion of one’s professional network, well beyond Germany’s borders, are becoming increasingly important.

Together, we will work through shooting schedules, cost calculations, financing and grant applications using a concrete example.

Rights and contract management is a vital, yet often daunting, area of work. The aim here is to break down barriers. To establish a basic understanding, we will work through sample contracts together.

The production of a film for online release involves many specific aspects that need to be considered: ranging from the – still – difficult financing (no television funding, few film and media grants, new funding streams for digital productions) through the legal situation (image rights and copyright versus Creative Commons) to distribution strategies and refinancing options.
