Designing for the internet. A nightmare! There are no guidelines to follow, no digital DIN A3, no 4:3 or 16:9. There is no resolution to go by, no Full HD or 720p. There are 78 official image resolutions above VGA (640×480) and no fewer than 24 (!) smaller formats (which we don't need to remember). Could it get any worse? Yes, please: double pixel density (but small images due to data rate!) and it has to look great in portrait format for mobile phones.

Designing for the web means leaving the absolute behind and thinking relatively. In web design, we talk about “responsive.” We're not just talking about the moment, but also about the path to get there and back again. We talk about scrolling, heat maps, user experience, deep links, icon fonts, animation, max width. And we've always known: everything flows!
