This year’s Spring School organized by Agentur für Aufbruch, a collaborative project between the Institute for Structural Change and Sustainability (HALIS) at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) and Werkleitz, will take place from May 11 to 16, 2026, in Hettstedt, focusing on the theme of generations. During the workshop week, students of human geography at MLU and of communication design with a focus on photography at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle will conduct interviews and create portraits of people in Eisleben, Hettstedt, Molmerswende, and Mansfeld. In the process, they will speak with nuns, a social worker, a farmer, and a gymnastics club, among others, about the concept of time and generations.

In the Spring School Magazine, the portraits created on-site and the documented generational experiences are brought into relation with one another. The presentation on May 16 in Hettstedt offers an opportunity to engage in conversation with the participants and learn more about the collaborative process.

In addition, this year’s Spring School will be presented from July 3–12 in Halle at the Werkleitz Festival Sonner or Later at Große Ulrichstraße 13–15. Within this framework, the Agentur für Aufbruch will host further events on the annual theme of generations.
