Feldarbeit

"Feldarbeit (Field work) tells the story of an encounter between father and daughter on an asparagus farm west of Berlin. In calm, tentative images, between the poles of direct documentation and staging, Henrike Meyer attempts a rapprochement, a reconciliation. The filmmaker introduces herself as the protagonist, who accompanies her father during the harvest season, a time characterized by exhaustion and which does not allow for an everyday family life. Fieldwork is also about the actual work in the fields. From the perspective of an intimate outside view, the film provides insights into the production of a large agricultural enterprise that works with seasonal workers.
