From Water To Fire. A Musical Transformation

Dmitry Batalov, the 2024 John Cage Prize winner, will give an exclusive piano concert featuring works by Cathy Berberian, John Cage, Luciano Berio and The Beatles as part of the exhibition Planetary Peasants. He will be accompanied by the renowned singer Undine Dreißig, who will enrich the musical experience with her expressive voice.

An event as part of the KlangART Vision Festival. The concert is part of the supporting program of the cultural theme year of the city of Halle (Saale) “Stadt der Brücken. Coming. Going. Stay.”

WITH

Dmitry Batalov, pianist, won 2nd prize at the Concours d'Orleans in 2020 and the John Cage Award several times. He studied in Moscow and Basel and specializes in contemporary music. Collaboration with Helmut Lachenmann, Ensemble Intercontemporain and Heinz Holliger.

Undine Dreißig, mezzo-soprano and chamber singer, was a member of the Magdeburg ensemble for many years and excelled in roles ranging from Wagner to Verdi. She has performed worldwide, including with Pina Bausch. In 2024/25 she can be seen in Das schlaue Füchslein and Anything Goes.
