Workshop

On the first day, the workshop will address various questions that have arisen for the lecturer from her own documentary camera work: How can the shooting of a documentary film be prepared? - What effect does the camera have on the people in front of it, and what consequences does the choice of camera have for the shoot, the optics, and the lighting? - Who determines the camera angles? How can proximity to the subject be created? What visual and human distance do we need? How do we deal with the responsibility of being alone in certain filming situations? How do we react to coincidences? How do we tell a story whose ending we don't yet know? Should intuition, openness, curiosity, honest interest, calmness, patience, and respect for camera operators be prerequisites? In the remaining days, the workshop will serve as a practical camera and lighting exercise. Each participant will practice different camera movements with a tripod or by hand using different lenses. In addition, various lighting designs will be tried out, for example for natural lighting situations or interview situations. On the last day, the results of the exercises will be analyzed.
