Philip Widmann

Filmmaker and author. Studied cultural anthropology, ethnology and American studies at the University of Hamburg and attended the documentary film class at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg. Subsequently worked as assistant director for Rimini Protokoll in Calcutta, Sharjah and Berlin. In addition, he has produced his own film works and film programmes for exhibitions and festivals. Since 2009, Widmann has been a member of the self-organised film laboratory LaborBerlin e.V.

His first short film, DESTINATION FINALE (2008), won the award for best documentary film at the Tampere Film Festival 2010, among others. DIE FRAU DES FOTOGRAFEN (2011), a collaboration with Karsten Krause, won the German Short Film Award in Gold in addition to prizes at international film festivals in 2011.
