Coming Forth by Day (Ausschnitt)

EG 2013

We see a bus ride in Cairo that pops up almost at random in the middle of a full-length film. The 8 minutes seem to seek refuge there, a refuge willingly granted by the film that recognises itself in the sequence. The distinction between female main and minor parts temporarily blurs as the two strike up a conversation; as does the distinction between norm and digression. The dialogue is the expression of the inner constitution of women who have to accommodate so much diversity in themselves, among others their film rolls, that they are forced to confront their own hysteria.
