Christina Friedrich is also represented at the IFFR with a production supported by Werkleitz. In her feature film The Night Is Dark and Colder than the Day, 30 children from Nordhausen take us into their worlds, sharing their grief, panic, fears, and moments of happiness—whether it's watching fly agaric mushrooms or lying in their sister’s arms. Most of these children are afraid of the dark, of themselves, or even of their own city. They fear war and recurring dreams. They believe in humanity, as well as in ghosts and angels.
We experience this universe of childhood through a sensitive and visually rich journey, immersing us in the realms of their unknown emotions.
