Pascal Lièvre lip-synchs words from Mao Tse Tung’s Little Red Book to a dubbed version of the famous ABBA song ‘Money Money Money’. Whilst putting on red make-up, his face becomes the same colour as the background of the set. The video is a surreal audiovisual divertisment inspired by the language of video clips, pop-culture, ideology and – of course – money.
Utilizing a text by George W. Bush quoted in the 31st January 2002 issue of Le Monde, the lyrics of ‘L’Axe du mal’ are sung to the melody of the original Jermaine Jackson/Pia Zadora song ‘When the rain begins to fall’.
