Echokammer

The G20 summit in Hamburg on 7 and 8 July 2017 was accompanied by massive protests and street fighting. Yet in their new video, Korpys/Löffler do not focus on the demonstrations, but on the well-oiled machinery behind the scenes of state visits: the presidential reception committees at the airport, the busy media center and the choreography on the peripheries of the summit. The film shows the preparations and staging of the events for the media, focussing on the technical device and the actors/operators. It also integrates footage of Brack Obama’s state visit in 2013 and his speech at the Brandenburg Gate.
