Angst Reise

Angst Reise was the first public presentation of Angst in Form (Fear in Form).

In the early morning of the 17th of July 2010 a coach departed from Berlin to Halle (Saale) and the suroundings of Sachsen Anhalt to visit places and processes of the projects.

Steve Rowell commented the landscape with excerpts of his audio and video archive. The transformation of the landscape in the last 20 years, is the central theme of Steven Rowell's engagement in his project for Angst in Form. Start and end point of his projects Background Listening Post is a forgotten telephone intercept station (the "listening post") of the Stasi (state security) on the outskirts of the village Görzig (district Köthen), which was one of the places (beside Werdertau, Peters Berg, Rheinsdorf, Braunbedra and Großkayna).

In Halle, there was insight into the project Scion exchange of Ella Ziegler. In spring, Ella Ziegler had grafted fruit trees with Czech Scions at the green corridor between the modernist housing estate of Halle Neustadt and the post-reunification single-family terraced houses., which had grown shoots could be seen. In conversation with Ella Ziegler, a grafting specialist demonstrated the various grafting techniques live on the tree.

Antje Schiffers' and Thomas Sprenger's project Wandern turn local experts into tour guides of fear, in order to teach people – during a hike lasting several days – who are unfamiliar with the location how to be frightened. The first person on this journey was the actress Julia Neuhaus who hiked from station Leuna Werke to the northwest and seeks Zschorgula. The idea and route for this walk was made up by Knut Birkholz, a writer meanwhile living in Rotterdam. Angst Reise 01 participants were part of the reception committee of Julia Neuhaus at the former opencast mine in Großkayna, where she talked about her three-day hike through the area dominated by lignite mining.
