A38-Production Grant

About A38-Production Grant

The name of project grant refers to the long and fraught but ultimately, successful expansion of the A38 motorway between Kassel and Halle. Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival and Werkleitz have a long-standing tradition of cooperation, which is rooted in their mutual interest in media projects that encourage a critical approach to socially relevant issues.

Call for entries: until 20th July 2012

Award

A38-Production Grant awarded in cooperation with Werkleitz - Centre for Media Art and supported by the LPR Hessen and the Medienanstalt Sachsen-Anhalt (an amount up to 4,000 Euro is available for living and travelling expenses, additional up to 4,000 Euro for allowance in kind) Each year Werkleitz-Centre for Media Art and the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival award the A38-production grant to young, up-and-coming media and film artists, as a means to actively support both the latter creative development and practical implementation of an artistic project.

The Grant

The production grant covers a 2-month residency at the Werkleitz-Centre for Media Art in Halle (Saale). Equipment hire and the material required for the production of an audio-visual project (a film, video or video-installation) is provided in kind, to the total maximum value of 4,000€*. Staff of each partner institution is also on hand, in an advisory capacity. Depending on a project’s completion date, it may be premiered during the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival and/or presented as part of the Werkleitz-Centre for Media Art event programs. Both institutions endeavour to help award-winners present their projects as widely as possible. Award-winners are invited to join the jury of the Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival in the year following their residency.(*calculated on the basis of the Werkleitz-Centre for Media Art media laboratory’s current hire and purchase rates)
