Sedimentation / Film 1
This work is basically a reconstruction of camera movements. All individual images of sequences in which a film camera has performed a movement are digitized and reduced in size. Then each individual image is positioned in an animation program in such a way that the individual images appear on the screen displaced to each other according to the movement of the (film) camera. The parts of each image that are not overlaid by the next image (which appears slightly shifted on the screen) remain visible, the rest is overwritten by the next image. One sees a film that simultaneously freezes in its motion track; a hybrid of static and moving image. For “Sedimentation/Film1” film sequences from newsreels of the forties were used.
