On April 6 at 8 pm, filmmaker and film critic Kevin B. Lee will be our guest. In a public presentation, he will present selected projects and will give an inside into his current research.
Kevin B. Lee is one of the best-known and most prolific artists in the field of video essays. Since December 2016, he has been a scholarship holder of the “Harun Farocki Residency” in silent green Kulturquartier in Berlin. A new artist in residencey programme advertised by the Harun Farocki Institute and the Goethe Institute. It is dedicated to the intellectual estate of the director and media theorist, who died in 2014. Lee is a filmmaker and film critic and has already produced more than 300 video essays in which he has researched film and media.
His excellent production Transformers: The Premake was designated as one of the best documentaries in 2014 by the Sight & Sound Magazine and has been in the programme of numerous festivals, such as the Berlin Critic’s Week. Lee taught film and media sciences at universities, including the Chicago School of the Arts, the University of Illinois in Chicago, and the Goethe University in Frankfurt.
In April, his production Transformers: The Premake (a desktop documentary) will be shown every evening at Werkleitz’ Videorama located at Schleifweg 6.
