A workshop by Niklas Goldbach in collaboration with Matthias Einhoff
29. 10. 2017

At the centre of Niklas Goldbach’s workshop is the realisation that architects are confronted with moral categories at every stage of their work. From the very beginning they have been attached to society, which they must provide a physical form.
With reflections on such architects as Leon Battista Alberti (a master builder of the Italian Renaissance who didn’t distinguish between ethical and unethical but only between good and bad architecture) or Le Corbusier (who declared architecture a “question of ethics”), workshop participants will explore in depth the transformation of architecture into a field of total societal participation and the different speeds of social reality and the constructed city.

The workshop will be held in conjunction with Matthias Einhoff and place emphasis on such questions as: Who is “empowered” by art in public spaces? Can such art be a point of departure for discourses or does it serve to shift criticism of urban social injustices into museums and project spaces?
